Pakistan’s roundabout makes it to the world’s top twelve!
It came as a surprise when Pakistan’s roundabout from Karachi made it to the list of top roundabouts in the world. The mosque roundabout in Karachi was ranked on number six amongst the twelve best selected roundabouts.
Out of all the entrants, the winner of 2015 was Railway Roundabout in Hobart, Australia which has a colour changing fountain and lush green garden for pedestrians. It was surprising to know that none of the US roundabouts was able to maintain its top position as it did in the past three years. Last year, Idaho Falls roundabout secured the first position while in 2013, Columbus Circle, New York made it to the top.
As reported by Daily Mail, the president of Roundabout Appreciation Society, Kevin Beresford, congratulated the residents of Hobart to feel proud of their city getting the top position in the contest. Other than the beautiful designs and architectural work, the list also included gigantic roundabouts because of the unique art work made on them. Such as, 118 foot tall Angel of Independence in the Mexico City and a roundabout of huge mosque in Karachi, Pakistan. Roundabouts that are included in the top list are as follows:
1. Railway Roundabout in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia – features a colour-changing space-age fountain.
2. Morbier giant cheese and grandfather clock roundabout in France.
3. Duck pond roundabout in Otford, Kent, UK – a roundabout with a listed duck pond in the centre.
