8 million visit Makkah during first 10 days of Ramazan
Exactly eight million pilgrims have gone by the Holy Kaabah in Makkah amid the initial 10 days of Ramazan, as per the Hajj and Umrah Public Administration in the governorate of Makkah area.
“The numbers demonstrate an increment of 49% from a year ago,” Director of the Hajj and Umrah Public Administration in Makkah Dr Salah Saqr said, according to Express Tribune.
“More than eight million passengers were transported during the first 10 days of Ramazan,” Dr Saqr added.
More than 38,000 vehicles transported pilgrims to the Grand Mosque, enrolling an increment of 25% from a year ago amid the same period.
The General Presidency of the Affairs of the two Holy Mosques has updated offices in the Grand Mosque. Six new plasma screens have been introduced inside the mosque and its courtyard for TV petitions to God and declarations in numerous dialects.
Procurement has been made for an adequate supply of electronic wheel seats and golf trucks for guests with unique needs.
The heavenly month of Ramazan started in Saudi Arabia on June 18 and in Pakistan on June 19.
More than 1.5 billion Muslims around the globe are denoting the month, amid which devotees swear off eating, drinking, smoking and having intercourse from day break until sunset.
